JEALOUS GOD

1SAM 5:1-12

The Isrealites were defeated in a battle by the Philistines and the Ark of God (Which represented presence of the living God) was taken from them. The Ark was set in Dagon's (gods if the Philistines) house. The Ark stayed 2 nights with Dagon.

- The first night, dagon worshipped the Lord of host (1samuel 5:3 NKJV And when the people of Ashdod arose early in the morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. So they took Dagon and set it in its place again.)

- The second night dragon was totally destroyed before the Lord (1samuel 5:4 NKJV And when they arose early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on its face to the ground before the ark of the Lord . The head of Dagon and both the palms of its hands were broken off on the threshold; only Dagon’s torso was left of it)

Like in the 10 commandments, the instruction was clearly stated here; EXODUS 34:14 & 17 NKJV (14 for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord , whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 17“You shall make no molded gods for yourselves.

Why should we destroy ourselves the way Dagon was destroyed? Why should we worship gods/goddesses while we serve the living God thereby subjecting ourselves to destructions? Deuteronomy 6:13-15 nkjv You shall fear the Lord your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name. You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are all around you (for the Lord your God is a jealous God among you), lest the anger of the Lord your God be aroused against you and destroy you from the face of the earth.

Do you worship some other gods and you still want the presence of the Living God to abide with you?

You cannot keep God and idols at the same time. Therefore, Let us put aside all puny gods and let the presence of the Living God only be in our lives.
