PILLAR OF LIGHT TO SOME, PILLAR OF DARKNESS TO OTHERS (EXODUS 14)

It was time to fulfil God's promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Then the Lord remembered the children of Isreal after so many years in slavery in Egypt. He plagued the entire land of Egypt with ten terrible plagues (including the slaying of all firstborns of both man and animals) just to make the Egyptians know that He is the Lord (EXODUS 7:5 nkjv. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord , when I stretch out My hand on Egypt and bring out the children of Israel from among them.”) and to convince His people (Israelites) that He has not forgotten them.

Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God, Himself began to lead His people. He did not lead them by the way of the Philistines (which was shorter) lest the people change their minds when they see war and return to Egypt. He rather led the through the wilderness. The Lord went before them during the day in a PILLAR OF CLOUD to lead the way and in the night as a PILLAR OF FIRE to give them light, so that they can travel both day and night (EXODUS 13:21-22)

Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people; and they said, “Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?” So he made ready his chariot and took his people with him (EXODUS 14:5-6). By the time Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel found themselves in between the EGYPTIAN ARMY and that great obstacle, the RED SEA

THE INTERVENTION OF THE PILLAR (LIGHT UNTO SOME AND DARKNESS UNTO OTHERS)
The Lord told Moses what to do to the red sea. Then the PILLAR, which has been leading the Israelites moved behind them to clearly separate the people of the Lord from the armies of the Egypt, the two camps were separated by the PILLAR (the PILLAR was cloud and darkness to the Egyptians and It was Light to the Israelites) EXODUS 14:20

We are all familiar with this story but I want us to ponder on the dual nature of God to two different people at the same time. The PILLAR (which represented the presence of the Lord) was LIGHT unto the people of God, they were able to see clearly where to go and how to move till they all crossed the red sea (crossing the red sea happened in the night till morning watch. Exodus 14:21-24). This same PILLAR was a cloud and darkness to the Egyptian, they followed the Israelites to the middle of the sea before the Lord destroyed their chariots so that none of them will escape the death already prepared for them. EXODUS 14:24-31

The question now is; On which side of the PILLAR are you? On which side of the PILLAR am I? He who is on the Lord's side shall always be in the light. JOHN 8:12 NKJV Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

PRAYERS
Dear Lord, I submit myself to you wholeheartedly today, and I have decided to follow Jesus today, let your presence always be with me, Let it be a lamp unto my feet and a bright light unto my path, In Jesus name I pray.
