WHAT WILL NOT BE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU
LUKE 10:38-42 NKJV
Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
We should not forget that wherever Jesus goes he always has multitudes following him, same must have happened when Martha welcomed Jesus to her house. As expected, the host will do everything to make sure the guests are comfortable and are refreshed. One may not want to blame Martha because she was attending to Jesus and other guests but her personal salvation must not be taken for granted even while she was busy serving.
Let us think about this scripture this way, many of us are workers in the house of GOD, some of us are ushers, some belong to the decorating unit, some are keyboardist and so on. Without this individual units, it may look like it is very impossible to have a smooth church service on the day of worship, but apart from our services rendered to the church, I think its very important for us to create time for ourselves to learn at the master's feet during the church services.
Take your time and do a little survey after your next church service, talk to at least two member of some units in your church. From the ushering department, from the ICT, from maintenance department and so on. Tell them you were carried away during the church service, that you just want them to tell you the important message from the preacher. You will notice that the Ushers MAY be busy waking people up to listen to the message while they are not listening to the message. The maintenance unit MAY just want to make sure there is no power failure and the entire church is well illuminated and they won't be concerned about the message from the preacher, the Keyboardist MAY just be concerned about making the service melodious rather than getting concerned about the message from the preacher. Even the workers in the Media unit MAY be so much concerned about the quality of what they are recording rather that the quality of the message from the preacher and so on.
It is VERY VERY IMPORTANT to serve in the house of God, in fact our service to God and to others is as needed as much as the salvation of our souls. So, while rendering our services in the church, we should not forget to also learn at the master's feet. Jesus said "one thing is needed (Learning at the Master's feet) and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her"
The Lord Almighty will accept our services and every time we Learn at the Master's feet, whatever we learn will be unto our salvation and it shall not be taken away from us, in the mighty name of JESUS we Pray.
