ECCLESIASTICS 3:1-8 NKJV
1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak;
8 A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.
There is time and purpose for everything under heaven. The creator created the whole world in 6 days and He rested on the 7th day. This is a complete week, 4 these weeks makes a month, 12 of these month makes a year.........That is timing.
What God displayed at creation is a guide for all of us that were created so that we can fulfil our purposes when we time our lives properly.
The writer of Ecclesiastics, want to remind us that we should not be carried away with what happens around us and he started analysing the timing by saying "a time to be born and a time to die" (Ecclesiastics 3:2). This means that no matter what we have, no matter how poor we are, no matter what we achieve in life and no matter what we fail to do in life, we were born and we will die, only God is Immortal.
The consciousness of our mortal nature (we were born and we will die), most of the times set us in motion to plan our lives based on the number of years we will live. And no one knows the number of years he/she will live (that is another dilemma) except God.
Now, if we all know that it is only God that knows the number of years we will spend alive, then I think it will be better for us to plan our lives with the God who knows the end even before we begin our lives.
From all these times listed by King Solomon, the most important of all is "the time to be born and a time to die" every other times is in between this two times. To buttress the perfect word of the wisest King in the Bible and to prepare our mind for the coming kingdom of God I want to make an addition to the most important time mentioned by the King "a time to be born and a time to die" after which there will be "A TIME TO BE JUDGE FOR ALL WE HAVE DONE WHILE WE ARE ALIVE" (my addition to the words of the King).
The message from this write up is that; we all need to plan our lives with God who knows our end even before we begin it. That way, we will leave a perfect life before him (this means we will always be doing the right things at the right times) and when our time on earth is up and its TIME TO BE JUDGE FOR ALL WE HAVE DONE WHILE WE ARE ALIVE comes, we will hear "welcome good and faithful servant, enter the joy of your Lord" from the one who sits on the throne.
Dear Lord, teach us how to put all our lives in your hand, teach us to live our lives according to your timing and plans so that our purpose on earth will be fulfilled and we will be welcomed into your everlasting joy in heaven, for we have prayed in the mighty name of JESUS.
