Hebrews 6:4-6 NKJV

For it  is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

The writer of the book Hebrews wrote this message to a special set of people. The message here is neither for humble sinners who pleads guilty and begs for mercy nor it is for a Christian who was tempted and backslides. The message here is for the people who has experienced salvation, the goodness and mercy of the Lord but they now openly renounce Jesus, His cause and His mission (Matthew Henry concise commentary, Bible Commentary)

Let us imagine the set of people, who has confessed Jesus Christ as the Lord and the only begotten Son of God and now they are openly renouncing Jesus Christ and His mission. These set of people can also be called "Antichrist".

The craft and the power of the devil cannot be underestimated in the sense that, in these later days the devil may not make people openly renounce Jesus Christ before the whole wide world but he comes at us in the form of opportunities that we so much desire. Most times we see some hard to reject contracts that will change our socioeconomic status in a twinkle of an eye, put us in a better place in the society but many of such contracts take something away from us. "Our relationship with God"

Some of these contracts are 24/7 kind of contracts, no more time to read the bible, no time to pray to God, there is a meeting  or we are on a permanent shift on the day of worship and so on. The devil is so crafty that when we are signing agreements with such companies we will see all these things and we will put our signature in agreement to those terms and conditions thinking that we will find a way out. But in the middle of it, we will discovered that we are very far away from God.

On the other hand, some job requirements will clearly state that, if you are a practicing Christian, do not apply, or they will cunningly put it that religious status may determine who will be picked for such jobs. At this points, some Christians may think of hiding their religious identity thinking that at a point they will go back to God in Repentance, that God will understand. But when they look at their Job responsibilities, they will find it hard to identify themselves as Christians because what is required of them from work and a normal Christian way of life are two opposite things.

In some other cases, because of the tradition and ways of life of people around us, we cannot identify yourself as a Christian. In the quest for survival, some Christians will renounce their religion because they have found themselves in a land where the indigenes do not believe in the Son of God and they can terminate anyone who does.

Satan is trying all his possible best to lure people of God away from their heavenly inheritance by cunningly making people renounce what they believe or by openly making people renounce what they believe.

Openly renouncing what we believe because of socioeconomic status, good health and survival (in terms of rituals and traditions respectively) or secretly renouncing Jesus is a way of putting to shame the one who loved us, who laid is life down for us so that we will become heirs of the kingdom and through such actions, we crucify him again.

The danger of such action is seen in the bible text above Hebrews 6:4-6. The craft and the power of the devil is great, as God knows what we need, the devil also knows what we need and he uses what we need to lure us to sin....

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39 NKJV

Have a great day
