6 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
Surely offenses must come, but woe to the man by whom the offenses comes! Let's get this very clear; what exactly is the definition of offence? A quick Google search gave me this definition and I think it clearly explain what Jesus was saying here. Offence was defined as a breach of a law or rule; an illegal act (Google definition of offence). This definition can also be called "Sin" in a simple term.
From the definition above I can understand verse 7 as "woe to the world because of sin, for sin must come, but woe to the man by whom the sin comes!"
WARNING FOR ALL!!!
When I read this bible text today I saw this great warning and I want us all to ponder on it. Its a grievous offence to cause someone to sin, Jesus said "it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea." We can see the magnitude of that offence itself.

When I took my time to meditate on this text then I realized "causing you neighbor to sin is just like you are an undercover agent, working in the secret service department, for the devil." The devil is the originator of sin and he is doing everything possible to cause people to sin.
It is an offence to be a sinner, it is worse when you cause people to sin. The question that came to my mind is; "in what ways do we cause people to sin?"
WAYS BY WHICH WE CAUSE PEOPLE TO SIN
1. Directly: I remembered when I was growing up. There are times when our parents warn us about certain things but we will end up doing what they asked us not to do, but because we do not want to be punished alone, we will look for a way of luring another sibling to commit the same offence......I think this also happens in schools and so on.
The direct says we cause people to sin happens when we deliberately lure someone to commit an offence so that he or she may be unworthy.
2. Indirectly: This happens when you cause someone to sin and you do not know you are causing another person to sin. This time around, you are not deliberately luring another person to sin but probably your ways of life or the way you interact with the people around you is actually having a negative impact on them.
Imagine a man making a phone call in his sitting room and he was telling the person on the other end of the phone that; he is not at home (probably because he doesn't want to entertain visitors so that he will spend quality time with his family). The young child in the sitting room with his dad will feel like, it is not bad to tell a lie.... See (OUR LIVES ARE THE ONLY BIBLE SOME PEOPLE READS)
The bible says "woe to the world because of offenses (sin), for offenses (sins) must come, but woe to the man by whom the offenses (sins) comes! Let us think deep about this, check our lives and see the ways where we are making people around us to sin. Let us make amendments, by forsaking our evil ways and by bringing people back to God.
It is well!!!
