All through history, humans have engaged in warfare. Something in human nature causes the people of one group to want to plunder, pillage, and slaughter those of another.

In a book about her father, British philosopher Bertrand Russell, Katherine Tait wrote about her father’s concern at the outbreak of World War I regarding the joyin the streets of England at the prospect of war with Germany. “He had grown up with an optimistic Victorian belief in automatic progress, with the confidence that the whole world would, in its own good time, follow the wise course of the English from ancient brutality to civilized self-government. Then, suddenly, he found his own beloved compatriots dancing in the streets at the prospect of slaughtering great numbers of fellow human beings who happened to speak German.”

My Father Bertrand Russell (England:Thoemmes Press, 1997), p. 45. Multiply this same idea over history among almost all people, and we see the reality of fallen human nature in one of its most consequential and tragic forms.

Now, in most of these human wars, no one knew the outcome before hand. People went to battle not knowing if they would be on the winning or losing side.

In the “Warfare Worldview” of our cosmos, we have one great advantage: we know which side has already won. Christ has won the decisive victory for us. After the Cross, no question remained about who is the Victor and who can share in the fruits of that victory. Satan’s cause is, indeed, a lost cause.

What do the following texts tell us about the outcome of the great controversy? Heb. 2:14, 1 Cor. 15:20–27, Rev. 12:12, 20:10.

Just as Satan lost the war in heaven, he lost the war on earth, as well. But with hatred and vengeance he’s still seeking all whom he may devour (see 1 Pet. 5:8). However complete Christ’s victory, the battle still rages, and our only protection is to place ourselves, mind and body, on the winning side. And we do that by the choices we make every day. Are we making choices that put us on the winning side, where the victory is assured for us, or on the losing side, where defeat is certain? On the answer to this question our eternal destiny hangs.

The message up there really blessed my soul when i studied it and i thought i should share it with you. We all know how satan waged war in heaven, how he lost and how he was casted down to the earth (Isaiah 14:12-20, Ezekiel 28:1-19, Revelation 12:7-9). From that time there has been a great controversy between God and the Devil

The message up there gave us hope because this battle has already been won by God through Jesus Christ. It is now easy for us to make our choice and to choose sides freely. The question now is; Are we going to be on the Lord's side and be victorious with Him or are we going to be with the devil who has already been defeated.

(Note: there is no sitting on the fence)

God bless you as you choose to be on the Lord's side.

Psalms 8:1-9 NKJV

 1 O Lord , our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens!
 2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.
 3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
 5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
 6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet,
 7 All sheep and oxen— Even the beasts of the field,
 8 The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas.
 9 O Lord , our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

SDAH 559 - Now Thank We All Our God

Now thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices,
Who wondrous things hath done,
In whom His world rejoices;
Who, from our mothers’ arms
Hath blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love,
And still is ours today.

O may this bounteous God
Through all our life be near us,
With ever joyful hearts
And blessed peace to cheer us;
And keep us still in grace,
And guide us when perplexed;
And free us from all ills,
In this world and the next.

All praise and thanks to God
The Father now be given;
The Son, and Him who reigns
With them in highest heaven;
The one eternal God,
Whom earth and heaven adore;
For thus it was, is now,
And shall be evermore.

Few days ago, i was singing from the Hymn book and i clearly saw the message in this particular Number. A lot must have seen the message long long ago, but for the sake of many of us who just follow the rhythm and melody of music without paying much attention to the lyrics, i will love to share this.

Read the above lyrics like a literature, the writer (in this case we the singer) want to thank God with the whole of our being (with our hearts, with our voices and with our hand) for so many great things He has done in our lives. He has blessed us with countless gift of love since our birth and we still experience this steadfast love even till today.

A very great prayer for the course of every Christian's life was said in the second verse: May God always be close to us throughout our lifetime. May His closeness to us be with Joyful heart and blessed peace to cheer us. May He keep us forever in His grace, May He guide us whenever we are perplexed and May He heal us from every form of Sadness, sorrows, weepings, sickness and disease. Now and forevermore. (AMEN)

Again we give our praise to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The one Eternal God, Who the heaven and earth adore because that is how the praises has been, that is how it is and He shall be praised forevermore.

Revelation 22:12-17 NKJV

 12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the  Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
 15 But outside are  dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
 16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.

Yet from the days of your fathers You have gone away from My ordinances And have not kept them . Return to Me, and I will return to you,” Says the Lord of hosts. “But you said, ‘In what way shall we return?’ Malachi 3:7 NKJV

1. If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

2. “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18 NKJV

1. Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up. After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight.
2. Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord . His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earthHosea 6:1-3 NKJV

As we diligently return to the Lord, may He return to us, May He purify us afresh may He renew His covenant with us.
In Jesus name we have prayed.

Psalms 20:1-9 NKJV

 1 May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you;
 2 May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion;
 3 May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah
 4 May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, And fulfill all your purpose.
 5 We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions.
 6 Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand.
 7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
 8 They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.
 9 Save, Lord ! May the King answer us when we call.

“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
Deuteronomy 7:9 NKJV

Sunday, 17 April 2016

In the course of my chatting with a friend on my bbm today, i came across the above memes, it's kind of funny. It ministered to me and i also want to share it with you, my friends.

Of course, a whole lot of people (including me) give excuses that we are full of sins or we are a not holy enough to be a part of a prayer group or to pray in general. After i saw this message filled image i remember a bible text about the mission of Christ to the world; Christ didn't come to save those that were already safe, He rather came to save the sinners (Luke5:32).

The fact that we are all sinners is one of the reasons why we constantly need to pray to the Sinless Son of God for more of the Holy Spirit from God our father. He will generously give us because He is a Loving Father.

It's so funny to me that i thought about; being dirty and making a grievous decision of not taking a bath because we are too dirty. The only result we will get from that is "getting more dirty and acquiring infections as a result of lack of personal hygiene"

Likewise, a sinner who says he can't pray because he is a sinner will sink in sins and this may eventually lead to eternal death.....

Let us ponder on this as we begin another wonderful week....

May God bless your week and make it a fruitful one.

Matthew 13:44-51 NKJV

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,  who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind,  which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.

So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just,  and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Jesus said to them, “Have you understood all these things?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”

   If you notice, the first two parables in this Bible text both described a man who sold all he had to purchase Field and the Pearl respectively. This illustrations does not mean "the Kingdom of God can be bought" it rather means "The Kingdom of God worth more than what life can offer us" therefore, both men in the illustration sold all they had, so they willingly submitted all they had (including themselves) to the pursuit of the Kingdom of God.

   The other illustration of the Kingdom of God likened it to a dragnet which was cast into the sea and gather every kind. At the end, those who gave themselves and all they had to the pursuit of the Kingdom of God shall be gathered in the vessel (The Kingdom of God) and the bad ones shall be cast into furnace of fire (God forbid this for you and I).

   What is the worth of the Kingdom of God to you and I? Jesus concluded by asking this vital question; "have you understood all these things?". This question is also for all of us.

Isaiah 60:1-22 NKJV

Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising. (AMEN)

“Lift up your eyes all around, and see: They all gather together, they come to you; Your sons shall come from afar, And your daughters shall be nursed at your side. Then you shall see and become radiant, And your heart shall swell with joy; Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you. The multitude of camels shall cover your land, The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; All those from Sheba shall come; They shall bring gold and incense, And they shall proclaim the praises of the Lord. (AMEN)

All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar, And I will glorify the house of My glory. (AMEN)

“Who are these who fly like a cloud, And like doves to their roosts? Surely the coastlands shall wait for Me; And the ships of Tarshish will  come first, To bring your sons from afar, Their silver and their gold with them, To the name of the Lord your God, And to the Holy One of Israel, Because He has glorified you. (AMEN)

“The sons of foreigners shall build up your walls, And their kings shall minister to you; For in My wrath I struck you, But in My favor I have had mercy on you. Therefore your gates shall be open continually; They shall not be shut day or night, That men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles, And their kings in procession. (AMEN)

For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish, And those nations shall be utterly ruined. “The glory of Lebanon shall come to you, The cypress, the pine, and the box tree together, To beautify the place of My sanctuary; And I will make the place of My feet glorious. Also the sons of those who afflicted you Shall come bowing to you, And all those who despised you shall fall prostrate at the soles of your feet; And they shall call you The City of the Lord , Zion of the Holy One of Israel. (AMEN)

“Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, So that no one went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, A joy of many generations. You shall drink the milk of the Gentiles, And milk the breast of kings; You shall know that I, the Lord , am your Savior And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. (AMEN)

“Instead of bronze I will bring gold, Instead of iron I will bring silver, Instead of wood, bronze, And instead of stones, iron. I will also make your officers peace, And your magistrates righteousness. Violence shall no longer be heard in your land, Neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; But you shall call your walls Salvation, And your gates Praise. (AMEN)

“The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended. (AMEN)

Also your people shall all be righteous; They shall inherit the land forever, The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified. A little one shall become a thousand, And a small one a strong nation. I, the Lord , will hasten it in its time.”

Mark 10:29-31 NKJV

So Jesus answered and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel’s,  who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.  But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Matthew 5:1-12 NKJV

And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

 - Blessed  are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

 - Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

 - Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.

 - Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

 - Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.

 - Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

 - Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.

 - Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

 - Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.  Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

In the account of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the book of Matthew, Jesus began His ministry and public Evangelism with a message of Hope. He began the beatitudes with message of blessedness.

Blessed are the "poor in spirit" You may want to ask; "what does it mean to be poor in spirit?" To be poor in spirit means you are not spiritually whole. This further means you see yourself as a sinner and with humility, you see the need for a saviour. This bible says for yours is the Kingdom of Heaven (Salvation). ....“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” Mark 2:17 NKJV

Jesus also gave a message of hope to those who mourn, the people who have witnessed the injustice of sins and it's consequences on human race. The meek shall inherit the earth, the peacemaker shall be called the sons of God, and so on.

This "sermon of Hope" is to remind us of the manner of Love the Father have for us, this "sermon of hope" is to lift our fallen spirit and to tell each other that as long as we hold fast in the faith, we are blessed before the Father and the hope of eternal life awaits us.

As we remind each other of this message of hope, may the good Lord continually hold us up in this race, may He bless us as we wait on Him and may He bless us with life eternal. In Jesus name we pray.

Isaiah 49:15-16 NKJV

“Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of  My  hands; Your walls are continually before Me.

Dear Lord, our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your love towards us, we give thanks for this promise of hope that You have given us. "Even though our fellow human beings may forget us, You, oh Lord will not forget us"

This is Your word, and Your words are Yeah and Amen, Now we humbly pray for ourselves this day, teach us to continually be acceptable in Your sight (so that our walls will continually be before You).

We know You have heard all our prayers and we have faith that You will answer them because Your promise said "You will not forget us"

With our heart full of thanks we pray in Jesus Name.

Isaiah 59:1-2 NKJV

Behold, the Lord ’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.

Behold, the Lord have all the necessary resources to hear our cries and save us, but out the only stumbling blocks to this great and free opportunity is our sins. He is God, He is Holy, He doesn't like iniquities and sins. Iniquities and sins makes him hide His glorious face from us.

Isaiah 59:1 clearly explain to is the ability and capability of God to answer our prayers when we pray. Isaiah 59:2 gave us one of the major reasons why we don't have answers when we pray. There is a good news to all of us though.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways (iniquity and sins), then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land (answer their prayers).
II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV

Now we know one of the reasons why we don't have answered prayers and to the glory of God, we have seen the solution to this problem in II Chronicles 7:14.

May God Almighty continue to answer all our prayers in Jesus name.

Isaiah 58:10-12 NKJV

   If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, then;

 - your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
 - The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones;
 - You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
 - Those from among you Shall build the old waste places;
 - You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
 - And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

Psalms 84:1-12 NKJV

   How lovely is Your tabernacle, O Lord of hosts! My soul longs, yes, even faints For the courts of the Lord; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

   Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she may lay her young— Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts, My King and my God.

   Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Selah Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. As  they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools. They go from strength to strength; Each one  appears before God in Zion.

   O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah O God, behold our shield, And look upon the face of Your anointed. For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.

   For the Lord God is  a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You!
