THANKSGIVING 2016

Isaiah 25:1 NKJV

O Lord , You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

As we glide into the week of THANKSGIVING, let us forget our problems and challenges and let us begin to reflect on what God has done for us. The things we prayed for, the good things that we didnt pray for and yet He gave to us. His blessings and protection on our families, His provisions for our needs and so on

As we praise Him, may He give us more testimonies.

Amen

I SERVE A LIVING GOD

I Kings 18:17‭-‬40 NKJV

17 Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, “Is  that you, O troubler of Israel?”
18 And he answered, “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have,  in that you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and have followed the Baals.
19 Now therefore, send and gather all Israel to me on Mount Carmel, the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”
20 So Ahab sent for all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together on Mount Carmel.
21 And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord  is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
22 Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the Lord ; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
23 Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under  it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under  it.
24 Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord ; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.”
25 Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.”
26 So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there  was  no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.
27 And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.”
28 So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.
29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was  no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.
30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord  that  was broken down.
31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”
32 Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord ; and he made a trench around the altar large enough to hold two seahs of seed.
33 And he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood, and said, “Fill four waterpots with water, and pour it on the burnt sacrifice and on the wood.”
34 Then he said, “Do it a second time,” and they did it a second time; and he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time.
35 So the water ran all around the altar; and he also filled the trench with water.
36 And it came to pass, at the  time  of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “ Lord  God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that  I have done all these things at Your word.
37 Hear me, O Lord , hear me, that this people may know that You are the Lord God, and that You have turned their hearts back to  You again.”
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 Now when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, “The Lord , He is God! The Lord , He is God!”
40 And Elijah said to them, “Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!” So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.

I know a lot of us know this story. But for the sake of those that do not know this story. Ahab is a King in Israel, he has forsaken the commandments of the living God and he caused the people of Israel to follow and worship Baal (god's) against  will of  the God.

Elijah is a prophet of God in Israel and in this story, he has an opportunity to change the heart of the people by proving that only God is the living God and every other gods can not save in times of trouble.

Read  the story again, note that the prophets of baal called from morning till evening and not a simple response was gotten from the gods they created with their own hand. They  hurt themselves and cut themselves. But nothing good came from the man-made gods.

Now, look at the confidence in Elijah (verse 30-37) after setting up the burnt offering, he ordered water to be pour on the offering. And look at the way he prayed to God (verse 37), he did shout he didnt cut himself before he could communicate with the living God. We know the rest of the story.

YOU AND I
Now unto you and I, the God of Elijah is still here for us. He is a God that answers with fire He is a Living God. He wants to be the Lord of our life if we surrender our lives to Him. Because He's a Living God, whenever we talk to Him in prayers, He will answer us.

I serve a Living God, the God  answers with fire. Therefore i pray for you today that every obstacles hindering you from knowing this LIVING GOD shall be consumed with fire in Jesus name.
Amen

JESUS LOVES US

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
I John 2:1‭-‬2 NKJV

Because we have an advocate with the Father does not mean we can continue to sin. Jesus Loves us, we ought to love Him too.

HERITAGE OF THE RIGHTEOUS SERVANTS OF THE LORD

Isaiah 54:1‭-‬17 NKJV

1 “Sing, O barren, You who have not borne! Break forth into singing, and cry aloud, You who have not labored with child! For more are the children of the desolate Than the children of the married woman,” says the Lord .
2 “Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes.
3 For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited.
4 “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame; For you will forget the shame of your youth, And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore.
5 For your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name; And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.
6 For the Lord  has called you Like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, Like a youthful wife when you were refused,” Says your God.
7 “For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you.
8 With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; But with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,” Says the Lord , your Redeemer.
9 “For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.
10 For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the Lord , who has mercy on you.
11 “O you afflicted one, Tossed with tempest, and not comforted, Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, And lay your foundations with sapphires.
12 I will make your pinnacles of rubies, Your gates of crystal, And all your walls of precious stones.
13 All your children shall  be  taught by the Lord , And great shall  be the peace of your children.
14 In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you.
15 Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake.
16 “Behold, I have created the blacksmith Who blows the coals in the fire, Who brings forth an instrument for his work; And I have created the spoiler to destroy.
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord.
